Wow, what an amazing experience at James Suckling’s Great Wines World in Miami, Florida. Whether you are a brand owner, winemaker, distributor, restaurant owner, wine enthusiast, or member of the press, this is an event you will want to attend. With additional events hosted in New York City and San Francisco, Great Wines World has become one of the most anticipated global wine gatherings for both professionals and passionate consumers alike.
As a travel reporter, I had the opportunity to attend the early trade tasting, which began at 4 p.m. The event was incredibly organized, making it easy to navigate the tasting floor. Prior to the event, attendees received a detailed email listing the participating producers and their booth locations. With more than 300 top wineries represented, having that information ahead of time allowed me to map out my top ten tasting picks before walking into the room.
Insight from Amici Cellars Founder Bob Shepard

One of the highlights of the evening was a brief interview with Bob Shepard, founder of Amici Cellars. Bob shared thoughtful insights into what has helped his brand remain successful in a rapidly evolving wine market.
Bob explained:
“I have remained consistent on the price of our Cabernet Sauvignon since 2015 to provide trust to consumers and brand loyalty. I make sure I am always out in the market because trust is what’s lacking in the industry today.”
He continued by emphasizing that trust goes beyond price stability.
“When I talk about trust, I mean more than price stability. I am also referring to the brand story and the whole connection to the consumer from start to finish.”
His authenticity and perspective were refreshing, particularly as many conversations today revolve around concerns about a downturn in the wine market due to perceived declines in alcohol consumption.
But are consumers really drinking less wine?
The Importance of Connection in the Wine Industry

Wine critic James Suckling shared an interesting perspective on the topic.
“Of course, reports say it’s about economics, but consumers are still drinking wine; it’s all about connections and the experience. That’s exactly what the Great Wines World event supplies.”
As one of the world’s most influential wine critics and journalists, with more than 40 years of professional wine tasting and reviewing experience, Suckling has a deep understanding of the industry’s shifts. His events emphasize exactly what today’s consumers are seeking: authentic experiences and meaningful connections with the people behind the wine.
I was fortunate enough to capture a photo with James during the evening, making the event even more memorable.

Conversations with Producers

While making my way around the room, I stopped by the booth for Silverado Vineyards, where I had an insightful conversation with Michael from the winery. He spoke openly about how many wineries are navigating what some consider a downturn in the market.
One approach Silverado is taking is carefully reviewing production costs without sacrificing wine quality. That includes evaluating decisions such as the use of French oak versus other barrel programs, ensuring the wine remains consistent while maintaining financial sustainability.
It was a great reminder that behind every bottle of wine are countless strategic decisions made by producers who are deeply committed to their craft.
A Standout Discovery: Method Cabernet Sauvignon

With more than 300 producers pouring wines, one brand that truly stood out was Method Cellars.
Recognized in 2025 as a high-quality, value-driven California Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Method Cabernet Sauvignon has been highlighted as a top value wine by Wine Enthusiast and received 95 points from James Suckling. With an average retail price ranging between $19.99 and $29.99, it delivers impressive quality at an accessible price point.
The brand was co-created by Ian Cauble, one of the most recognizable sommeliers in the wine world, in collaboration with Napa Valley winemaker Trevor Sheehan.
Ian explained that one of the core ideas he brought from his company, SommSelect, was the concept of offering a single, carefully chosen daily wine with rich storytelling behind it, a philosophy that reflects how modern wine consumers connect with brands today.
Ian is also widely known for his appearance in the SOMM documentary, which followed his journey toward passing the notoriously difficult Master Sommelier exam. Since the program began in 1969, only a small number of individuals worldwide have earned the title of Master Sommelier, making it one of the most prestigious achievements in the wine industry.
Final Thoughts

A special thank you to James Suckling for bringing together so many remarkable producers and passionate members of the wine industry under one roof. Events like Great Wines World remind us that wine is about far more than what’s in the glass; it’s about storytelling, relationships, and shared experiences.
From insightful conversations with producers to discovering standout wines and connecting with industry leaders, the event truly delivers on its promise of showcasing the best wines in the world in an environment built around connection.
If you ever have the opportunity to attend James Suckling’s Great Wines World in Miami, New York, or San Francisco, it is absolutely a must-attend event for anyone who loves wine or works in the industry.
